Catherine qualified as a physiotherapist in 2000. Initially she worked in a range of in-patient specialities, eventually leading the in-patient medical physiotherapy team at Addenbrookes Hospital.
Catherine joined the Cambridge Breathlessness Intervention Service in 2009 specialising in intractable breathlessness in chronic disease, with a particular interest in dysfunctional breathing patterns.
In 2016, Catherine supported the development of a novel dysfunctional breathing service that incorporated cardiopulmonary exercise testing. She completed a CLAHRC Fellowship in 2016 comparing emotions related to intractable breathlessness in malignant and non-malignant conditions.
Catherine chaired the Buteyko Breathing Association for a number of years and led their teacher training courses until 2019.
